About Whitehall Lane Winery
Whitehall Lane Winery was founded in 1979 but the history of the soil dates back two centuries. In the mid 1800's, Napa Valley settlers were drawn to the gravelly soils and ideal climate, planting high quality grape vines.
In 1993, the Leonardini Family took control of the Whitehall Lane estate. They updated the winemaking, instituted a new barrel-aging program and continued sourcing the finest vineyards. They started with only the Estate Vineyard and now own a total of six prime Napa Valley vineyards that are the cornerstone on which the wines are made. Today they are proud to unveil the Club Room inside the new 9,000 square foot barrel room addition.
With 110 acres of prime, valley floor vineyards, the family is committed to creating exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Reserve wine. Specialties include the Leonardini Family Selection of wines, a portfolio of boutique wines available only at the winery.
Winemaker Dean Sylvester
Dean is a detail-orientated winemaker who works closely with his crew in the cellar, while keeping a watchful eye on the development of the grapes in the vineyard. He is responsible for all winemaking as well as overseeing the 110 acres of vineyards that Whitehall Lane owns and all vineyards held under contract. He has been making wine in the Napa Valley for the past 25 years and is well respected in the Napa Valley winemaking community. He combines the experience of working with both European and American winemakers, allowing him to marry classic old-world style with modern winemaking techniques. Dean majored in Fermentation Science at U.C. Davis. He has helped build Whitehall Lane into a Napa Valley powerhouse recognized for quality and consistency. "At Whitehall, early drinkability is attractive. Our wines are soft, fruit forward, and accessible, making them ready to drink upon release. Yet, they are made with classic structure; so, if you choose to cellar our Cabernets you will be rewarded down the road."
